How LED Esthetics Was Born: A Founder’s Story of Innovation in At-Home LED Skincare

How LED Esthetics Was Born

Founder & Origin Story

1. What inspired you to start LED Esthetics, and what was the “aha” moment that made you go for it?

During COVID, my skin hit a breaking point. Those early signs of aging hit fast and hit hard—sun damage, deepening fine lines, dullness. And like everyone else, I couldn’t see a professional. I was desperate for something I could do at home that actually worked. That’s when I found LED therapy. I started using a clinical-grade panel, and within weeks, the transformation was undeniable. The results were amazing, but the experience wasn’t: the device was bulky, expensive, and hard to even find. That disconnect lit the spark. I knew there had to be a better way—and I decided to build it.

2. Can you share a bit about your background before launching the brand?

I’ve always had the entrepreneurial spark, shaped by years working in tech startups, real estate, and small business development, especially while I worked in revitalizing Detroit communities and coaching local founders. But I struggled to find a path that felt deeply personal—something that helped others and lit me up too. When LED therapy transformed my skin during a time I felt totally stuck, it all clicked. For the first time, I saw a way to merge all of my past experiences into something I believed in fully.

3. What gap or need in the esthetics industry were you trying to fill with your LED technology?

As a consumer, I was overwhelmed by the noise—endless skincare trends, lofty promises, and products that rarely lived up to the hype. I wanted to cut through the confusion and bring people like me something simple, effective, and backed by real science. In the LED therapy space, there was a huge gap: overpriced clinical panels on one end, flimsy, low-quality knockoffs on the other. There was nothing in the middle that felt trustworthy, accessible, and actually worked. That’s the space I set out to fill.

Mission, Values & Philosophy

4. What core values drive your business and product development?

Truth, trust, and transformation. I don’t believe in selling hype. I believe in building tools that genuinely work, backed by science and designed with intention. Every product we create is about empowering people with knowledge, results, and real self-confidence—not just skincare that looks good in a box.

5. How do you ensure that your products stay aligned with your mission and esthetician needs?

I listen—closely. We build with feedback loops from estheticians, not assumptions. If it doesn’t simplify their workflow, elevate their client results, or open up new revenue, it doesn’t go to market. I test every product personally and obsess over both the science and the everyday experience. It has to work—and it has to feel effortless.

6. What does success look like to you — both for your brand and for the estheticians who use your devices?

Success means impact. For the brand, it’s knowing we’ve built something people can trust to actually make a difference—in their skin, their confidence, their businesses. For estheticians, it’s seeing them grow: more retail revenue, happier clients, and more time to focus on what they love. If our tools help them and we’re building strong longterm partnerships, we’re doing it right.

Product Development & Innovation

7. What sets your LED devices apart from others on the market?

We don’t cut corners, and we don’t overcomplicate. Our devices are FDA-cleared, use clinically validated wavelengths, and deliver the power density needed for real results. But what truly sets us apart is design that balances science and simplicity. They're easy to use, visually beautiful, and built with both pros and clients in mind—from the specs to the retail shelf appeal.

8. Can you explain a bit about the science behind your technology and how it supports skin health?

We use red, near-infrared, and blue light at precise wavelengths that stimulate cellular energy (ATP), boost collagen production, reduce inflammation, and target acne-causing bacteria. It’s called photobiomodulation—basically giving your skin cells a recharge so they can function at their best. The effects build over time, which is why consistency matters.

9. Are there any unique protocols or signature treatments estheticians can perform with your device?

We’re currently developing a professional line designed specifically for in-treatment use, based on real feedback from estheticians—so stay tuned. In the meantime, many of our partners are using our Glotech Mask and Collar creatively in their services, incorporating the Collar while doing their facial treatments and the Mask post-treatment to calm inflammation and enhance results. We're also expanding our library of simple, results-driven protocols and light-activated serums to support both in-room treatments and at-home care.

Support & Education

10. What type of education or support do you offer for estheticians after they purchase your product?

We provide live one-on-one training, access to an in-depth knowledge base, and customizable marketing assets. And if there’s something they need that we don’t have yet, we create it. Our goal is to make it easy for estheticians to boost client results and retail revenue without overcomplicating their services.

11. What’s something estheticians often don’t realize about LED therapy or your devices that you wish they did?

That consistency is everything. Incorporating LED as a service add-on is a great way to educate clients and introduce them to the benefits. But the real magic happens between visits. By offering clients a trusted at-home device, you’re not replacing your treatments—you’re improving their impact. It's a low-effort, high-value way to stay in your client’s daily routine and keep them coming back for more.

Business & Growth

12. How has the journey been so far in growing LED Esthetics, and what’s been the most rewarding part?

It’s been scrappy, self-funded, and deeply personal. We built this brand from our living room—no investors, no roadmap—just conviction and customer feedback. The most rewarding part? Hearing from people who say our products helped them feel confident again, or estheticians who finally found a retail tool that actually moves and keep coming back to order more. That kind of impact is everything.

13. What advice would you give to estheticians who are on the fence about investing in advanced equipment?

Think beyond the treatment room. Tools like LED therapy don’t just enhance results—they build trust, open up retail revenue, and keep clients engaged between visits. We’ve also developed a line of light-activated serums that boost LED results and offer an easy, recurring retail revenue stream. Investing in the right retail products not only adds revenue beyond the treatment room—it also shows your clients that you’re ahead of the curve when it comes to the latest advancements in at-home skincare.

Community & Future Plans

14. Why is community important to you, and how do you want to support groups like The Money-Making Esthetician?

Because no one builds alone. I’ve been the one searching for answers at midnight, trying to grow a business without a playbook. That’s why I love spaces like The Money Making Esthetician! It’s a hub of shared wisdom, encouragement, and real talk. I want LED Esthetics to be a partner, not just a brand, offering tools, education, and support that help estheticians grow with confidence.

15. Can you give us a little sneak peek—what’s next for LED Esthetics?

We’re expanding our pro ecosystem with new devices, smarter protocols, and more retail-ready education to make it even easier for estheticians to generate results and revenue. We're also developing a new lineup of retail-ready devices, designed to target a wider range of skin concerns and price points. Our mission stays the same: real science, real results, and a business model that works for you, not just us.
