Why I’m Finally Private Labeling My Skincare Products
Moving into a new location feels like the perfect opportunity to make some of the changes I’ve been wanting to make in my business for a while.
One of the biggest?
Private labeling.
I’ve thought about creating my own private-label skincare products for a long time because retail has always been an important part of how I think about growing an esthetics business.
Here’s the way I look at it:
Even if a client eventually stops coming to you for services, they can still continue purchasing the products they love from you.
That gives you another way to continue serving your clients while creating an additional retail revenue stream for your business.
The part that always held me back was inventory.
I love the convenience of dropshipping. I haven’t had the space to keep large amounts of inventory, and the thought of spending my days packing boxes and shipping orders was never something I wanted to add to my workload.
That’s one of the reasons I’m excited to be partnering with Selfnamed as I begin creating my own private-label products. Their platform is designed to help beauty professionals launch branded skincare without large minimum order quantities, which makes starting small much more realistic.
Why I’m Starting With Hyperpigmentation
I could have tried to launch an entire skincare line at once.
But I don’t want to create 20 random products just so I can say I have my own skincare line.
Instead, I want to start with one niche.
One concern I already treat regularly.
One category my clients are willing to invest in.
And one area that has the potential to become a higher-ticket retail purchase.
For me, hyperpigmentation just made sense.
This is something I talk about all the time through The Money Making Esthetician: growing your business doesn’t always mean doing more.
Sometimes the better move is figuring out what your clients already come to you for and finding another way to serve them.
If your clients already trust you to help them address hyperpigmentation in the treatment room, creating a thoughtfully selected home-care option gives you a natural way to extend that experience beyond their appointments.
Private Labeling Doesn’t Have to Mean Going All In
One of the biggest misconceptions around private labeling is that you need to launch an entire collection and invest in a huge amount of inventory immediately.
You don’t.
Selfnamed offers private-label skincare without minimum order quantities, so beauty professionals can start with the products that actually make sense for their clientele instead of committing to a massive line upfront.
That is exactly how I’m approaching this.
I’m not trying to build the biggest line.
I’m trying to build the right line.
Thinking About Private Labeling Too?
My advice is simple:
Start with samples.
Try the products yourself.
Pay attention to the formulas, textures, packaging, and overall experience.
Then think about your existing clientele.
What concerns do they ask you about constantly?
What products are they already purchasing?
What category would genuinely complement the treatments you provide?
You don’t need to launch everything at once.
Start with one problem you already know how to solve, choose products that make sense for that audience, and build from there.
If private labeling has been sitting on your business wish list too, you can check out Selfnamed and start by ordering samples.
